The story

Discover how a single coconut has nourished communities, powered homes and sustained rural life — harvest, extract milk, make traditional oil and grind kurakkan on a stone mill.

One tree. A thousand stories. In Sri Lanka, the coconut is far more than a fruit — it is food, medicine, fuel, shelter and livelihood. For generations, entire communities have built their lives around this remarkable tree. Walk through coconut gardens with local families, learn how every part of the coconut is used, prepare fresh coconut milk with your own hands, and witness the ancient transformation of coconut milk into golden coconut oil using traditional methods that still survive in Sri Lankan villages. Discover how coconut husks become fuel, how stone mills transform kurakkan into flour, and how village kitchens preserve traditions disappearing from much of the world. This is not a cooking class. This is living heritage.
